Experience
I am a current undergraduate student at Brown University studying English and pure mathematics. My main extracurriculars in high school that helped me with my college applications were debate team, where I helped mentor younger students, and music (I played clarinet and piano). I also spent a lot of time tutoring, both privately and through volunteer programs. I also won high school awards in math and English and was a National AP Scholar and a National Merit Scholarship finalist. However, I believe I got in mostly based on my essays, and I spend a lot of time writing in both academic and nonacademic settings. I specialize in creative nonfiction, so the type of writing necessary for college applications is very familiar to me. I also transferred to Brown from Cornell, so I have been through the application process twice and have a great deal of insight on how to choose a college that is the right fit for you.
